On Saturday 25th June, colleagues attended the first International African Cultural Day held in the City of Sunderland. The event was organised and hosted by the Pan Africa Network (PANAF), a community interest company, based in Sunderland. It was established to represent and be a lead voice for Africans and People of African descent in the City of Sunderland and the North East.

There was a display and exhibition of African culture through arts, music, dresses, artefacts, food, hair style, poems, poetry, images and many more.

The Mayor of Sunderland and Together For Children attended, along with Northumbria Police and the University of Sunderland representatives as well.

Our Assistant Director of Safeguaring, Tracy Dean, gave a talk on Female Genital Mutilation, and was joined at the event by colleagues Tosin Olajide (Advance Clinical Practitioner) and Adenike Olakunle (Patient Safety Specialist Nurse).
