Health Education England fund a range of Continuous Workforce Development (CWD) programmes of post registration education available to a wide range of staff, including Clinical Skills and Non Medical Prescribing programmes, which are accessed by submitting an expression of interest form to the Trust's CPD team stsft.cpd@nhs.net. The contract for CWD changes each year so different programmes may be funded, though they are usually widely relevant to professional staff in the NHS.

In addition the Trust has allocated funds from Health Education England to agree a local Trust CPD Plan to supplement the CWD programmes, to develop its Nursing, Midwifery and AHP staff. Directorates are able to nominate programmes for inclusion in the Trust's annual CPD plan each year.

Professionals should agree their current training needs for their existing role at appraisal, and also any agreed development in term of career progression. They can then raise queries with the CPD team about course availability and funding. The Trust can not fund training retrospectively where staff have applied directly to a University and obtained a place without authorisation from the Trust.
