Our Portering team offers a variety of services and is a core part of CHoICE Facilities Services.
The Portering helpdesk ensures a rapid response to meet our customers every need. The team is fully trained to safely transfer patients, equipment and materials to all areas of the site.
This is the first point of contact for any portering requests and/or advice.
Services are available 24 hours a day; we can be reached on ext. 42104/bleep 51451.
This dedicated service is provided to some of the busier departments to move patients to and from wards/departments.
There is a central pool of porters available for other areas and requests can be made through the Portering Help Desk. Theatre porters are also included in the facility services.
Porters are on duty24/7. They can be contacted between 07:00am and 10:00pm on bleep 51452 and between 10:00pm and 07:00am on Bleep 51451. Any requests should be made between the ‘on duty’ times. We continue to provide cover throughout the night in an emergency.
SOP Roles and Responsibilities in the Checking and Changing of Medical Gas Cylinders
Requests for furniture/equipment moves and small office moves should be made to the Portering Supervisors on ext. 42104. A minimum of 48 hours’ notice must be given and a full list provided of all items to be moved. Filing cabinets and cupboards must be emptied prior to the move, temporary storage boxes can be provided on request.
There will be a recharge for these services, please make sure the move is necessary before requesting our services.
