Estates Department 

South Tyneside Estates Department provide a comprehensive and efficient maintenance service for South Tyneside & Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust. Maintaining the fabric and equipment of Trust owned premises throughout South Tyneside (including South Tyneside District Hospital, Haven Court, Palmer Community Hospital, Clarendon & St Benedicts Hospice) covering all aspects of Electrical, Mechanical & Building maintenance and installation works, contributing to the safe & efficient operation and maintenance of the Trust’s Estate, building services and infrastructure.

We also provide 24 hour cover through the Estates Emergency On Call system for all Trust properties in South Tyneside.

Minor new works (Category D)

Requests for minor new works such as additional keys, additional decoration, power, data points, shelving, notice boards etc can be found here: Category D request form and should be completed electronically and emailed to: Estates.Office@stsft.nhs.uk

Engineering Department 

This department is responsible for setting professional standards and the management of Engineering Systems, including day to day repairs, planned preventative maintenance and minor new works.  For example:

  • Electrical Systems, Lighting, Power, Lifts, Fire alarms, Power generation, Pneumatic tube system, Access control systems and Catering equipment 
  • Mechanical Systems, Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning Refrigeration, Renal water systems and Decontamination equipment 
  • Plumbing Systems, Domestic hot and cold water, Showers, Waste disposal machines and Firefighting equipment

Building Department

The Building Maintenance team is responsible for providing a professional advisory service and carrying out the day to day repairs and planned work programmes for the following areas of work to all trust aforementioned premises.

This includes building fabric, structure finishes, such as flooring coverings, suspended ceilings, fixtures and fittings, decoration, false ceilings, windows/glazing repairs, roof work etc and also groundworks such as  roads, footpaths, gardens, trees & plants, site boundaries.

The building deptartment also covers miscellaneous items such as locks, signage, pest control, snow and ice cleaning etc.
