What we do

Our dedicated team of trained domestic staff ensure that the cleanliness of the wards and departments is maintained to a high standard 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

As well as statutory mandatory training our staff receive annual refresher training on all areas of domestic work in order to ensure competencies are up to date.

We work closely with the Infection, Prevention and Control team and a computerised audit tool, C4C (Credits for Cleaning) is in place within Domestic Services to allow us to monitor and measure our strict criteria of cleaning standards. High risk areas are audited more regularly and following all audits, actions are compiled and completed.   All information is logged in order to ensure the cleaning standards in our hospital are measurable and reportable. The audit tool complies with the National Specifications for Cleanliness in the NHS.

We have in place escalation guidelines for clinical areas and a standing operating procedure for organising of source isolation cleans.
Key Performance Indicators for the department are in place in the form of a RAG rating which was compiled following an extensive, comprehensive cleanliness review of each clinical area within STFT.
